Superman Vs. Blue Shield (Monday, 06 July 2015 08:51)

    Opponent: Blue Shield
    First Appearance: Dazzler #5 / July 1981
Powers: superhuman strength, his reaction time is 10 times quicker than normal, super-stamina, super-agility, can run at 50 mph for short periods, self supporting force field, proficient fighter in boxing, judo, and gymnastics.
Joe Cartelli was born in the Bronx, New York. He is the son of Frank Cartelli, who was gunned down by the mob. He became a crime fighter, and started to infiltrate the Barrigan crime family, masquerading as a mobster. At one point, he somehow acquired a belt with micro-circuitry of unknown origin that could give him the Blue Shield powers, and used it to fight his family and various other criminals. He also shortly allied with Dazzler. Blue Shield was next seen attempting to join the Avengers, but was then approached to become security director for Project: Pegasus, a secret research project of the US Government. At that point, the abilities once conferred by the belt were somehow natural for Joe and he could produce the same effects without any visible equipment. He did a good job but resigned after he failed to protect the project from the alien life-form called Omnivore. However, he later re-accepted the post.

    And let the fight begin:

Out of both heros we can cancel super-strength, agility, and stamina. Superman can infact run gaster than Blue Shield, as we have seen him go toe to toe with the Flash who can run faster than the speed of sound. The fighting aspect of the Blue Shield can be cancelled as we know that Superman has been trained by the likes of Batman, Wonder Woman, and others in the fighting arts. Blue Shield's force field can absorb up to 1000 psi without the Blue Shield being buffeted by the impact, easily blocking knives, bullets and fist, and some electromagnetic phenomena, such as thermal radiation, but it does not stop sound or light. However, both Superman's heat vision and straight punches are strong enough to break force field. So even though Blue Shield may be good for a body gaurd or security head, he is no match for Superman. Although the Gaurdian vs. Blue Shield would be cool. But this is Superman vs. Blue Shield, and Superman wins.
